More Than A Shop (MTAS) provides resources and leadership development to our cohort of engaged barbers and beauticians, leveraging their longstanding trustworthiness to build and sustain safer, healthier neighborhoods around Baltimore.
We encourage growth at MTAS by boosting members’ talents through education and skill development. We empower our members to positively impact their communities by holding monthly capacity-building sessions, increasing awareness, and addressing significant challenges.
These initiatives provide our members with the resources they require to serve their communities. We study and disseminate instructional resources on public health, community involvement, and job training. By being informed, our members can better serve their communities.
The Barber Boot Camp, our flagship program, educates and develops skilled barbers and merchants. This course offers both theory and practice. Participants learn about state barbering laws and practice their skills. Barber Boot Camp graduates are issued barbering licenses in Maryland.
